Yamaha MT-01 Starter Motor

Starter Motor in Situ

The MT-01 OEM Starter Motor

Unfortunately the Yamaha MT-01's starter motor is prone to failing, its not surprising really when you consider how much of a lump it has to spin!

This means it can be a bit of a point of failure, sometime the magnets inside the starter motor for the Yamaha MT-01 fail. Which can be glued back in, but in some cases it is easier to just replace the whole unit, especially for piece of mind.

However the Yamaha MT-01 Starter motors prices quite high, but luckily there is another option.
The Yamaha MT-01 starter motor is the same as the Yamaha Warrior which is priced a whole lot cheaper, about £300 cheaper!
There is a slight downside, it comes from Italy so there is a price on shipping and you could possibly be required to pay customs.

To replace the starter motor you need to drain the oil from the tank and remove it like the image here.
You can then get easy access to the starter motor for removal.
